My project for the day - covering bebo's basket with fabric. This basket was used first by my grandmother for her children. My mom, Eleanor, was born in 1920. I in turn used it for my children, hanging it from the bedroom ceiling where we could easier give it a gentle push in the middle of the night to rock the kidlets back to sleep. If that didn't work we turned on WCNY and listened to classical music.
I first rescue this basket after my grandfather passed away back in 1968. At that time it was filled with old postcards and photographs. Eventually I found some ash splints to replace the broken ones. You can see the new splints - they are still lighter in color.
Bebo's other grandmother bought him a bedding set for his crib and since the mattress skirt wouldn't fit I took it apart to use on the basket.
After about a half an hour trying to figure out how to do that I decided my trusted "friend" could probably help out again. Sure enough after a bit of searching I came upon the idea of making a large bag like liner with elastic at the top to fit over the edge. BUT all this time God kept whispering - that extra yellow sheet in the dresser. FINALLY, I got the sheet and viola. It fit perfectly, with no cutting or sewing.
AND - the finished product. Nothing fancy but I didin't cost a penny and THAT is the best part. I love making and creating and SAVING money. God is so Good.
Now, all we have to do is hang it from the bedroom ceiling. That's the daddy's job.!!!!
